My interest in painting began with the family legend of my paternal Grandfather, Shelby Guillory. He was an itinerant artist in Louisiana, who traveled the state painting murals to make a living. Stories about his life fueled my own interest in art and painting.
My work focuses on light and form in technique, and evokes memory, nostalgia, and emotion. I try to tell a story to bring the viewer to a place and time, remembering the beauty, light, and feeling of a moment.
I studied at the California College of Art, and the Atelier School of Classical Realism, where I learned under classical master artist David Hardy. Studying at the atelier was a freeing experience that allowed mer to render light and form in both landscape and still life works.
My work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, and was featured in American Art Collector magazine in 2015.
